Neurosurgeons at University of Cincinnati report that using the endoscope during pituitary tumor surgery results in a more complete resection. While a complete resection isn't always possible or even necessary, it is very helpful for patients with tumors that are secreting too much hormone. A complete resection lowers risk of recurrence and can lead to better normalization of pituitary hormone function.
